Joyce Kovar Eberhardt, 53, died suddenly on August 22, 2008 where she lived in Rochelle Park, New Jersey. She was a remarkable person who overcame great physical handicaps to enjoy her work; her life - and her bridge. Joyce graduated from Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, IL and J. Sterling Morton West High School in Berwyn, IL. She was a co-owner and manager of the Lombardi Cafe in Washington, D. C. (3 blocks from the White House). She was a certified paralegal employed at the Children's Aid & Family Services in Bloomfield,, New Jersey. Despite being in a wheelchair since the age of 28, she was always cheerful and independent. She traveled to bridge tournaments locally and out of state. Joyce was a remarkable person and endeared herself to all in her short life. Joyce Kovar Eberhardt is survived by her parents, George and Eleanor, her brother Bob (Gerda) and her niece Jacqueline and nephew Frank.
